Restore Balding, Receding And Thinning Hair With A FUE Hair Transplant

Sam Archer2021-11-12

Having a full head of hair is something that most men would like to hold on to for as long as possible. Going bald or having a receding hairline happens to a number of men, and can dramatically affect their self-esteem.

There are a few reasons why this happens:

Genetics

Male pattern baldness or hair loss is largely dictated by our genes, and genetics is probably the most common explanation behind why men lose their hair. It’s estimated that more than 80% of cases of male pattern baldness are hereditary.

Natural hair loss

Losing some amount of hair is a natural process. From morning till night, the average adult male will lose around 100 hairs from the head, and though some get replaced by new ones, some are not. This is all part of the natural ageing process.

Sudden or patchy hair loss

Sudden or patchy hair loss may happen because of stress, or maybe an underlying disease or medical condition. Alopecia affects about 2% of all people at some point in their life. It’s an immune system disorder which causes the follicles to stop producing hairs. Small amounts of hair are suddenly lost in small patches. In most cases the condition is temporary and hair growth in the bald patch returns, but about 10% of those who have alopecia, have longer-term hair loss.

A lot of men think that thick hair signifies youth and good health, but feel that thinning or balding suggests a body and mind that’s getting old. Sometimes, this can feel like they’re fighting a losing battle and despite their best efforts, they think that nothing can stop the inevitable baldness.

Hair transplant treatment can give the client a full, natural-looking head of hair using the client’s own follicles. The doctor removes hair follicles from parts of the scalp where there’s a high density of hair, and it’s then transplanted into the thinning or balding areas.

The two main techniques used for hair transplants are Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) which involves two steps:

Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is simple and painless. The hair follicles get extracted one by one using custom-made, precise micro-surgical tools which are less than a millimetre in diameter. The doctor extracts the hair without making an incision, meaning there is only minimal discomfort after the procedure, and making recovery time fast.

Follicle Unit Transplantation (FUT) is the restoration procedure when the extracted hair gets transplanted into the bald or thinning areas in their naturally occurring groups of one to four hairs. For the hair-line, single hairs get transplanted and for behind the hair-line bigger groups get added for density. Each follicular unit gets extracted and transplanted with its sebaceous glands, nerve and blood supply.

For men, hair loss can cause great distress and lead to poor confidence and low self-esteem and lots of them do all they can to prevent hair loss.
